930s Steering Wheel
I've been looking for a wheel for my '89 930 and wanted to know the difference between a replica and an original. Pictures would help.
Thanks-Roger B. |

Sorry Tim but both of them are not original. The original has one piece leather wraps around the steering wheel with the vertical seam at six o'clock position. The center pad has Porsche emblem and horn symbol debossed/stamped into the leather.

As far as the top one, it was purchased from AJ Racing years ago when they were selling the OEM 930S wheel's, before Porsche stopped the selling of them with the logo. This is the same "style" wheel that came on a friends 87 930S. I know Porsche also made one with an embossed logo on the horn pad, was thinking there were several OEM 930S wheels from Porsche, but maybe not....so maybe the one on the friends 930S was also a replica???? If you have pic of the orig, please post, I'd like to see it...

Thanks for the replies/pictures. From what has been shown, the last pictures are the original configuration. They are so similar it makes me wonder if it really makes any difference. I'm not really that anal about it, I just wanted to make a knowledgeable decision when buying one.
