Yeah, I'm holding out for the ones Jeff Alton is building...I like the "blind" fasteners that he's using...ala Fikse style.

Has anyone ever thought to just CNC billet 3.6 centers to fit BBS modular hoops????? If I had the specs I'd CAD the centers myself for you guys. I have a set of real Speedline 3.6 wheels but they're on the 3.6 now and I don't quite feel like tearing them down just to measure them. I know Derik Smith s doing this(or having this done) to replicate the original SSR 6 spoke centerlocks on the 962's for his parts stuff.

Adam- if you wanted to do that I would take a ride up there in a heart beat to help you dismantle them- that would be soooo badass. 3.6 turbo rims are in my opinion the best looking rim for any aircooled wide body porsche.

Agreed. They're a perfect compliment to the car's curves. Should have stated that I have "access to" a set of 3.6 wheels that are on Mikes 3.6 Turbo, not my own set. That car will be here shortly, along with his '93 RSA but I don't know If I'll be able to tear them down in time here. I am tearing off the rotors to blanchard grind them so maybe I will, I'll have it for a week or so. I know one still leaks at the hoop seam so if I can cram some stuff out and free up a day here I'll do it. This car ![]() ![]() Ah you know Derik, yeah he's a cool guy over the phone. I was going to buy a 962 body from him awhile back but just couldn't afford his prices. Had to go another route(source) and make some of my own stuff. Still think I'm going to contact him about uprights and hubs since he has the stuff all sorted out already, centerlock or not.

Adam,
He lived a block from my old house, now we are 3 or 4 miles apart. I have seen his 962 and parts many times, and his 904. If I had the coin I would be building a 962 for myself! There are some other local fellows also doing the same sort of thing with the 962 bodies, but I don't think they do any of the uprights or suspension pieces like Derek does. His uprights and hubs look good, they are all done locally here to a high standard. He and I have been back and forth a few times on some projects (including the 962 wheels) but never made it happen. I was only interested in doing more quantity than he was interested in, but his stuff is pretty impressive. The 904 is an intersting project that should be quite the performer when he is done. Cheers

Yeah, I keep tabs on his site now and then to see if any progress has been made on that car. That will be an amazing car once completed. He needs to whip up some 3.6 flat fan conversions to truly complete that project. His prices do reflect the quality though, just beyond my budget here. I do have the capabilities to do everything he does at a much smaller quantity and am currently designing and building the chassis and suspension for my 962, however my financial backing isn't quite near what he has and it's taking me 3x the time he's had into his cars. Gotta keep plugging away piece by piece if I'm ever going to finish it. 'Nuff of me hijacking this thread, back to custom wheels

Jeff, I'm interested. I won't lie, I'm completely torn between the deep dish Fuch style wheels (your other project) and the 3.6 style. I love the Fuch style, obviously for it's iconic status....however, the 3.6 wheel is not too far behind and benefits addtionally from being just a tad more modern, aesthetically.

I'd be all over a set of wide 3.6 wheels at an affordable price. Fuchs don't look good on a newer bodystyle car, $1000/wheel is not affordable, and the stock 3.6 wheels are too skinny.
What would a price point be for a set of 9&11 or larger?

Maybe I'll have to look into this more. Never realized there would be such a market I'm assuming 18's would be in order, not 17's?????I'd like to know what outer hoops BS is using(company/manufacture). I'd really only trust the likes of BBS or Champion myself especially if they're going to see some track use.
