Long Nose Porsche 911 In The Barn!
Hey Guys!
Recently my elderly lady neighbour 'Helen' told me about this little early model Porsche that a another neighbour lady friend of hers has stored away that I had no clue of. The lady doesn't even look at it. Keeps it covered. Outta sight - outta mind, I guess. It was her Father's car. He passed away six years ago and evidently there is a load of pain associated with it regarding whatever the car represents to her and her memories of him. I am sure that she rode around with him as a younger girl or something. I don't have the full story. I walked down with Helen to take a brief look at it. She said when we got to the car, "Go ahead and lift the cover and take a quick peek." I lifted the canvas cover, quickly looked at it and exclaimed out loud how pristine it was. I was shocked! These 'Garage Finds' are usually reserved for magazines or other people! It was a White Targa, Red Leather interior, black dash with 6.8k on the clock. I believe it is a 1965 or a 1966 because it had the 356 carry-over four cylinder in the engine bay. Everything appeared correct and it was almost like it was sitting in a time capsule, even though it was under a cover. I couldn't see any rust anywhere? It even had the moon The next day, I walked down with my Brother to ask about it,, and as we approached the car, she bolted from her back door running towards us,, her significant other was glued to the inside of the back door window watching (probably scared stiff of men). Anyway - she ran up to us, her long gray unkempt hair blowing in the wind,, she was dressed slovenly and spoke with grim trepidation, "Can I help you?" "What do you want?" with a really scared and hollow look on her face almost like we were robbing her. I told her as I pointed up the street, 'Yes, Helen told me yesterday that she spoke to you that we would be coming down to ask you about the car! Didn't she say something to you about that?' She said, "Yes, but I am not interested in anything,, the car is not for sale!!!" I was stunned by her reaction to say the least as I immediately checked her hands for a weapon of some sort. She was completely edgy. Hell, she could have just shot us right there for all we knew. So, to tried to calm things down a bit, I apologized to her for any inference to insult her and expressed that we certainly never meant to tread on sensitive ground!" We never knew how many deep emotions our speaking of the car would have or we never would have done it! I asked somewhere through my repeated apologies if whether sometime in the future she may consider selling and she softened a bit and said,, "Well,, maybe some day!" I have no idea what it could be worth. Might anyone here have any thoughts?

well, from the addressable registration number on the city owned automated pickup trash can, maybe someone can figure out where this car is located.
old 912's are collectable, you're in the wrong forum for a 912 and how can you say there is no rust from peaking under the corner of dirty car cover unless you're superman? and from your writing style.. this story sounds like self medicated fantasy. |

Thanks for the mature and non-bloated thought on posting this on the N/A 912 forum. ![]() What the hell,,, it was only supposed to be a 'check this,, there are still a few hidden p-cars out there' thread. |

i found mine in some hippies barn, along with a few f-cars , other p-cars, and some old english cars as well !! supposedly he was a millionaire at 21 broke by 28, picked his life up and left cali for vancouver island...LOL no 66/67 912, but a 1500 rust free 911 seemed like a good deal to me !

I know the disappointment you're experiencing. This popped up in my tiny town and I posted (initially without pics) on samba. Some folks had some strange posts in response but the hostility seemed to melt away w/ images. Then eveyone started in attempting to tiangulate on the car's location. Eventually it killed any desire to keep them posted.

Great story, Facey! It's true, isn't it! Great things DO come true in our lives. Do you drive that car now?
Pavulon,, unbelievable find! Wouldn't you (or maybe you did?) love to have taken pictures of all of those wonderfully hidden cars? Oh, the stories they could tell if they could talk! Can you share any pics of your car? -It is true,, and as much as others that say "That only happens to dreamers!" there are those like those here and others that hopefully share that prove,, these hidden jewels are still out there to be discovered! And, to those that try to spread their negativity to the dreamers! A well collected to you.Sorry, normally I try not to show an opposite other than my life of optimism and joy, but when people cast their latent gloom over what others view as positive, the only thing I CAN exude to their shallow emptiness is a closed eye and wish them off into their self inflicted darkness. But, alas the balance,,, with light, there will always be darkness, Cie la vie! |

This find of mine took me a full eight years to acquire. It was well worth the effort. Sold now, but proof that persistence pays off!

Heh,,, You know, Todd,,, like Doc Holliday said in the movie 'Tombstone' on his deathbed, "It's just life Wyatt!" I meet a lot of people because I go the extra mile to talk to people the way they themselves want to be talked to. And with that, good things just come from it.And this would be my third car technically I bought by way of approach. The first happened when I was 20 years old in Lake City, WA. I saw an older woman getting into her, what I thought was just a white RS Camaro. I helped her with her groceries and when done asked if she would ever sell it. She said, "No!", "but, would take my number because her and her husband were thinking of getting a more practical car." Four months went by and I for got about it totally. And then one night after work, the phone rang, "Chris?!" This is Mr. G,, are you still interested in buying our older Camaro?" Long story short. They lived a block above me. I bought it with cash I saved for $2,700.00. It was a 1968 SS/RS 350cid, M21, 4Spd 3:73 12 bolt, butternut yellow w. bumble-bee stripe, w black deluxe interior, tic/toc tach, console gauges, front disc brakes w/ booster, rear window de-frost, floor mat, original window sticker, build sheet, orig. keys w/ pop-outs intact, owners manual with ProtectO-Plate. I owned that car for 16 years before I let it go.

You need to go back and read some post from 1979 930 to see what all he really found. It is mind blowing to actually be able to get that collection.
