Will the flywheel from my 3.2 fit on 3.3
I know, I know......Flame away! I won't be drag racing or anything close!
I AM putting a 1988 3.3 turbo in my RS clone. I would like to use the 915 currently attached to a 3.2 that's in the car. My question is: will the flywheel from the 3.2 bolt up to the 3.3 turbo crank. Will I be able to use the clutch and pressure plate from the 3.2? I know some of you run this setup, what did you have to do to make it work? Drew |

Geez guys...It's not like I'm asking for YOUR flywheels...just a yea or nay on the fitment.
I'm trying to save myself some downtime. If I know my flywheel won't fit, I will buy one that will and have it here for when I do the teardown. Thanks in advance. Drew |

Drew,
I'll help keep this alive for you. I don't think you'll have any problem with this for the following reasons: - the 3.2 and 3.3 crankcases are the same. - the 9 bolt pattern on the end of the crankshaft is the same. I can't imagine that the length of the crank would be different where the flywheel mounts, so it's a pretty safe bet that it will go together OK.

thanks mate
So if the flywheel fits hopefully the clutch and pressure should work also.

My guess to is it will fit. Same crank and same case going on the 915. The 930 clutch will not work. Might want to upgrade the pressure plate.

You might check with Patrick motorsports or Kennedy Engineering for a clutch upgrade...

The 3.2 flywheel and clutch will swap to the turbo and work with the 915 trans. what they are saying is the stock 3.2 pressure plate may not have enough holding force for the higher hp of the turbo motor. there are upgraded pressure plates to be had that provide more clamping force.

I'm would more concerned about using a 915 gearbox with that new turbo engine.
It just can't handle that amount of power and especially torque. Not in the long run and not if you plan on using it:-)
