It'll either be

1) The Boost Sensor (~$100)
2) The Boost Gauge (~$200)
or
3) The wire connecting the Boost sensor to the Boost Gauge! (Many hours of labour)

Given the age of the car (and unless you've had the engine out recently), it is most like to be the Boost Sensor.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture but you'll probably have to take your Intercooler off to get at it. But Mark Houghton has been experimenting (with a saw and cut his 'Re-circulatory valve' in half), and the boost sensor is the bigger, red one in this picture.

The hole to the right of the picture is where the Intercooler is attached.

You can't miss seeing that sensor, it pretty much stares you right in the face almost dead center when looking at the engine, just below the intercooler.

Also, you might find this thread worth reading...especially to troubleshoot the sensor itself.
