Badging question "turbo look"
will a na '86 911 with the factory turbo look option have the "TURBO" badge on the rear under the tail? just doesn't seem correct.
just wondering,,, jp |
I would say, no.
|
I saw a M491 car posted either here or on eBay with that badging and I don't think it's correct either. Should be Carrera.
|
That would be sacriligeous, misleading and downright offensive. Or perhaps someone had the bright idea of dropping a NA engine into a turbo chassis.

"That would be sacrilegious, misleading and downright offensive."
that was my thought, i was reluctant to say it. |
NO.
Totally incorrect. |
I debated whether to add the badge to my true turbo or not.
When I take people for a ride, I don't tell them its a turbo unless they ask. After the first pull, I get the "wholly crap!" comment and I'm comfortable they know. Then I introduce them to 993tt brakes... Priceless. |
I put the "Turbo" badge on my car. It is not an original turbo but it is a wide body and does have a turbo motor. Is that ok?
|
Factory M491 cars are badged "Carrera".
I've badged mine "911GTS" which gets a lot of questions as well. Nothing stock about it so figure the badge can be about whatever I want. "Is it a turbo?" "Let's go for a ride and you tell me." Hehe. |
|
Yes

didn't feel right. i am not a fanatic purist. i'm installing swing-out rear windows on my '78 930 as we speak. ripped out all air cond. stuff. i expect both myself and the engine will do well, southern california, this summer. jp |
