Engine "cut-off" at left turns
Had a vacuum leak in my 930 engine, and used some time with searching before i found the leak.
Now I have a strange error. When making high speed (or quick) left turns, my engine cuts-off. Smooth left turns is no problem. I can not tell whether it is ignition or fuel related. When I straighten the car again, I get a bank in my exhaust. So I'm guessing it gets fuel?? Is there a way to trouble shoot and find out if fuel or ignition related? Happy for all suggestions

Could a fuel pickup have broken off in your tank? Something clogging it? Does it happen with a full tank?
When you say it cuts off, do you mean it misses or completely shuts off??? |

It kind of just shuts off. That is what I feel. Does not want to try too much because when straighten up the car, it is normal again, but with a loud bang, and fire out the exhaust (I am been told)

Is there any way to short curcuit the fuel pumps so that they are running all the time to see is there coull be any problems with relays?

Does the engine cuts-off when you do high speed (or quick) right turns?

It is not fuel it is ignition. It is loading with fuel the ignition cuts and when it refires it lights the gas which is your big bang. Check the harness in the rear if it Tweeks under a turn and cuts power to the CDI box etc

If you have the stainless braided plug wires which are grounded make sure none of them are real close to one of the primary wires/terminals on the coil (if it's still mounted upside down on the fan housing) possibly moving and touching it and shorting it out on a hard left turn.

Thanks guys.
Will start looking at coil, cdi, plug wires. Had the distributor cap off and refitted the msd coil on the fan housing. Changed coil/dist wire, so might be there Yes, I have the stainless braided wires

Last year when we put my engine back in my car did the same thing. I fiddled around with the wires in the rear fuse compartment and the problem was solved. Maybe just a loose connection in there somewhere.

Might be something similar. Just put my engine back after a rebuild, so will go over the wires tomorrow

removed MSD and coil today. Also looked over rear fuse/relay and all wires.
Could not see anyting wrong. MSD coil had been leaking oil and when shaking it I felt like something was loose inside. Replaced MSD blaster 2 coil with a new one and now all is fine. Tomorrow we are some friends leaving from Norway to Nürburgring, so I'm glad all turned out fine in the last minute :-) Will make a thread about the trip later.

Thats why you should use the epoxy filled MSD blaster coil when mounting it upside down on the fan housing.
Mounting an oil filled coil upside down on the fan housing with all the heat and vibration is one of the stupidist things Porsche ever did. |

The new coil is now mounted upside up :-)
Did not know there was an epoxy one. Will order one now
