CIS gasket question
I am rebuilding my 1980 930 and I want to replace the large gasket under the fuel distribution.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1282827592.gif There are several screws with springs under them. I don't understand how to tighten them properly. The manual says tighten to the block then back off one turn. Does this mean tighten them fully compressing the spring then back off one turn? If so then mine are not currently tightened properly because I can turn them with my fingers. What do these springs do under the screws? Some kind of pressure or vauccum release? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1282828205.gif Thanks |
I assembled mine without any spring 7 years/10'000km ago without any probs. Even some Porsche mechanics couldn't tell me the reason for them.
My thoughts are they should avoid damage on threads or more important the fuel metering plate/head in the case of some backfiring, similar to the pop-off valve on n/a engines |
