E85 cis 930?
Just starting to learn about E85 but what I have gleaned so far.
E85 runs cooler, has a much higher octane rating, can run much higher boost, and take more ignition advance than the gas most of us have. Some are calling it budget race fuel. I believe Larry at CIS Flow Tech can modify the newer alloy Lambda Fuel Distributor's to deliver up to 30% more fuel. Thus, why shouldn't one be able to convert a 930 to run on E85? Tunning for E85 it is not overly difficult if you do not change back and forth to gas. As it needs about 30% more fuel to air flow if we set the FD to flow 30% more fuel the stock or existing WUR settings should be close to beginning with. One might even think about running much higher static compression for better throttle response. It might reduce the need to upgrade the stock intercooler? We would probably be limited to about a 400hp limit on E85 even with the CIS's limitations pushed to the max. However with programmable boost management the mid range might be able to boosted a bunch and then tapper boost back to live withing the gross delivery capacity. This might make the 4 speed transmission ratio's even a better fit. If Larry can keep the existing Lambda circuit in tact it might even be that the existing 930 Lambda controller might be able to adjust our idle and cruse AFR's to stoichiometric. Talked to Larry that dose the CIS mod's and he says to not try it. E85 absorbs water and then becomes very corrosive.
