Would you help me to identify the circled item. It was not connected and missing green connector neither. What is a function of this thing? Thanks.
By the way, I made an mistake at a previous message. How can I delete it? Thanks.

Hi
It is the plug that connects the fuel pumps so to speak. With this plug disconnected, the pumps run continuesly when the ignition is in the ON position. If you connect it, the pumps do only run if the fuel metering plate (to the left and a little closer in your picture) is forced down. Either by air as when the engine is running, or by hand, maybe in a test situation. Some of the more senior members can give a more correct tech. explanation. You should hook it up for normal driving. Jesper |

I believe the microswitch that the plug connects to is normally closed and will open when the metering arm is depressed....or simulated opening by pulling the plug connector. This in turn ties in with the yellow relay in the engine compartment and with another over-speed relay under the drivers seat to activate the fuel pumps. For fire safety reasons in the event of an accident where the engine is dead, you don't want your fuel pumps to continue pumping raw fuel that may be leaking all over the place. It's good insurance to keep that connector connected.

this is weird, i just took a quick peek at my car also, and mine is also unplugged
is there any reason why someone would run the car with this unplugged? its so funny how you continue to find things the previous owner did

Because of the many problems that can keep a 930 from starting or running, the plug is pulled to ensure that the fuel pumps run and engine will start. As Mark noted, it negates the safety factor of turning off the pumps and killing the engine in the case of an accident/shunt. I've got my fuel pumps wired to an inertia switch that will kill the pumps to do the same.

No, it would just keep the fuel pumping during a fiery rollover.
