Which sound pad to buy?

What is good and fairly easy to put on?
What do you use? Are the newer ones better than the OEM?

I've never bought a factory sound pad but have bought two pads from vendors. Both fit and worked great. I installed mine while the engine was out and it was simple. Others have installed it with the engine and said it waas easy as well. Use 3M spray adhesive.

Went for the look since heat/sound does not really matter in a Cab

Ive used 2 different ones in the last year. The factory numbers are on them but the light weight one is easiest to use, I wont fool with the heavy one any more. The glue though at NAPA is near $25 for the good stuff.

I'm sitting on a pad I bought last year, not quite sure of the best way to install with the engine
in the car. I bought the "good stuff" 3m spray adhesive. It just seems a bit of a tight fit to
wrestle the pad in there? any good hints tricks ideas appreciated....

Lowes Stateside

3M Super 77: 9.98

3M Hi-Strength 90: 12.98

Not sure about Lowes Canada but they were pretty close on other products.

PM if you are in Ottawa.

We have tried the OEM, and the 2 common aftermarket pads.
The foam of one version aftermarket pad snags very easily, leving gouges and tears.
The other is more OEM in density, but has a thick waxy coating that cracks easily.

The nicest one we've used is offered by Pelican:
Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-APBZ-ESPULT-C
It's maybe 0.5-.75" shorter than we would like, but really high quality.

Installation: clean off the old sound pad and and flaking adhesive, prep the rear wall with 3M adhesive promoter wipes, put the pad in position starting at the bottom but do not bend the metal tabs over at the top, just position the pad (it lines up neatly over the decklid shock mounts). Lower the top of the pad, spray the back liberally with 3M high strength adhesive (yellow), and push the pad back up. Bend the tabs over, you're done.

Which one is this?

Turbocraft:
It does not seem to be for a 89 930? Will it fit?

Hmm, I'll look at the appbiz part, too.

The Pelican one isn't specified for a 930 because it does not have the big cutout over the airflow sensor. It is dense foam, so you would want to trim this out or it might not allow the filter housing to come out (or just make it harder than usual).
