What do you think of this intercooler for a twin turbo?
I have a 1985 Porsche 911 twin turbo and i have been thinking of replacing the intercooler
I found these two. How do you think they fit on a 1985 911? One thing is that i would like to have the outlets to the turbos pointing down instead of to the sides On th first one i would like to have the inlet pointing straight forward to the engine as well. The first picture of the intercooler is upside down. As long as the inlets or the turbos were facing down you should be good.... But have others measure the width of there's to be certain you are not too wide.
I know nothing about the companies quality, flow rate, or efficiency either... Mybe someone else could help with that. Bryan |
The 'Just Intercoolers' one has a lot more cores, and the fins 'look' tighter packed.... My money would be on that one having better cooling ability.
This thread is a good read 9M Prototype intercooler test report - Rennlist Discussion Forums Results on different coolers, and as you can see the better performing ones has more cores and really tightly packed fins. These are high end coolers, the best one being a Secan, i'd look to copy it as best as possible |
I thumbnailed the GodSpeed unit several years ago but never got around to finishing that project. You have to wonder what the difference is between a $300 intercooler and a $3000 intercooler. Besides being made by slave labor in Asia what is the structural difference that drives up this cost? How much more efficient are the expensive units?

I suppose there is quite a difference but it would be fun to check out the cheap intercooler.
I can easy convert the intercooler so the outlets points down to the turbos I suppose the to outlets goes to the turbos and the inlet to the engine;) Have a look at the picture and tell me what you think. Note that the overall lenght will be shorter because the outlets to the turbos wil be on the underside.
