Daily driven 930. . .

I recently sold my Volvo wagon and have been driving my 930 every day for the past couple weeks, through some really nasty weather and all and have to say I love it, was worried about it with two kids and all but I'm kind of loving it. . .but not the gas mileage however. . .curious how many of you out there daily drive your 930's?

redturbo911 12-31-2011 03:42 PM

We all love our Pcar to the fullest but my input would be go buy a daily driver with much better gas mileage. LOL.

icemann427 12-31-2011 03:43 PM

Almost every day. Your gas mileage shouldn't be too bad. 18 around town, 23 highway @ 80 mph. Congrats on the car!

You must provide pictures, though, or you will be hung by your toes!

Daily Driver

I drive mine every day.
30k miles in 2-1/2 years.
Its been very reliable and better when driven.

Wish I could say every day, but not quite since the weather gets decidedly white-ish and frozen in the winter (this side of the Cascades our precipitation freezes, vs. the west side where it just rains and everything simply molds over time).

During the fair weather months, I think I put over 50% of my driving time behind the 930 wheel. The rest was in the truck or on the Hog.

+1

Drive mine at lest 2 twice a week. The more I drive it the better it operates. SC's weather makes it possible to drive it all year, but my tire selection limits its use. I have found Toyo R888 are very sensitive to cool and wet weather conditions. If I selected an all-weather tire, then the car would be a better daily driver.

Gas mileage on it is worse than my 911, but better than my mustang.

These cars are meant to be driven! Wish I drove mine more. I always seem to have a reason...raining, to cold in the morning since I have no heat, to dusty at work. Really I think I should start driving it more. Good on you!

I have just put snow tyres on the daily driver (Audi A4 quattro) to use it as a weekend ski wagon, so the 930 is about to become the daily driver.
I am quite exicted, but gas mileage is the least of my worries or expenses as round trip to work is only 40minutes.
I have a choice of 2 routes
1) straight route for when wet or late for work via a coastal road only 100' from the Mediterranean waters edge
or
2) Twisties through the back hills for when I have the time and the weather is dry!
cheers
Ben

I was driving my 930 about twice a week and loving it untill I decided to take it apart for the EFI conversion. I drive my 993 at least once a week and my Audi rs4 the rest of the time. My favorite is the 930 for sure! Enjoy and happy new year!

Hey there,

Been driving mine every day for the past 4 1/2 years, 22 - 27 miles round trip each day(depending on which office I go to).

Mine is a little low, to function when there is snow on the ground, so on the 1-3 days a year we actually get snow, I then drive the '66 bug, but those days are the only hiccup in the daily driving routine.

Bought the car with 30K miles on it, now has just south of 90K on the clock, would not even think of driving anything else!

Good for you! They were made for that, not to sit in the garage for months or years on end. I would drive mine daily, but I can't neglect my 951 or 85 row carrera either so I rotate between the three:D

I put about 200 miles on my car over 6 years and will attest to this being a very bad idea. Trying to change that now that the kids are older but I have a nice list of stuff that doesn't work or needs attention. I'm thinking the 2-3 days a week plan is a good one. If I had rear seat belts then I could take both kids. Right now we use the wifes 91 C2 Targa for short trips with the kids.

Richard930 01-04-2012 11:17 AM

I get good use out of mine and it's been incredibly reliable:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1325704641.jpg

'Bleachii'
I just had rear 3 point seat belts installed in the back so I can take the whole family!
- Not just a daily river - but a family wagon!

Ben, I can relate to that. Two choices for me: the straight and boring where I can break all the speed laws, go to jail, injure other people...fun stuff like that....or just be mundane and docile, taking a mental nap on the way home
~OR~
Take the twisties which consist of a very low travelled farm county road which follows a canal. Take the twisties and wake up my mind and the car. Just gotta look out for the farm equipment on the road. Even after a poor day at work, you arrive home with an ear-to-ear smile.

cellison 01-07-2012 07:13 AM

don't daily drive mine (use the CRX/cockroach for the DD). too much traffic and i have a 5 mile commute. i drove it about 350 miles last year.

zakthor 01-08-2012 07:25 PM

Mine also driven daily but no twisties.

Currently take the kids to school but they are starting to complain about the back seat.

I daily drive my turbo 3.2 carrera, and It has been pretty reliable, anything that has went wrong has been my fault from things i've added. Just hit 140k miles!! 0.o
