Gotta love my wife :)

Although she needles me often to "get rid of the ugly old ones and buy a sleek new one", she humors my addiction. She bought me personalized plates for the 930. Love em! Since it was in the 50's today and again tomorrow, I'm going to get my baby out and contribute some more to global warming ;) Never thought I'd drive it in January in Iowa!

You got me tempted to take my turbo out as well! Nice plates.

Nice Wife, Steve. :)

Hope you've got a safety on that wheelbarrel ;) If my wife did that for me we'd be putting the kids to bed early.

:) I wondered if someone would catch that. The pic is deceiving, it's not actually hanging over the car and it's hooked to concrete anchors with a 1.5" nylon ratchet strap.

Very nice surprise! Let's see some more pictures of that beast!

Click on my Garage link, there are some good pics there from when I bought it a year ago. Shamefully, I don't have any good recent pics. Here's one I happened to catch with my phone this fall when I was sitting on the garage floor painting some pipes for the house. Kinda menacing, I think.

Awesome pic- and gotta love the 87s with some extra power... I've seen a few of them here.

Our Wives must have come from the same mold....Mine told me to get rid of my 18+ month IROC project and buy a "runner"...thats when my 87 turbo came home...for 18 months of engine upgrade/rebuild. :D

Beautiful Car!!! I think I will take my 79 out today as well. Enjoy!

Shadetree930 01-06-2012 08:54 AM

My wife has tried to get me to go with a new turbo as well. Took one for a drive and we both agreed .... fast as stink ..... but .... they have no 'soul'.

I am keeping my '87. That is a man's car.

Amen.

That is a nice ride, man.
I guess we are the lucky ones with cool wives that like cars with a punch, especially Porsche's. Mine is allowing me, well actually forcing me to be honest, to swap my Weber 3.0L with a turbo.:D

Cheers.

She kept saying get rid of the car (then a 996 GT3)

I got rid of the wife instead ;)

I had the same feeling driving the new Turbo's.
Even tested a GT3.
Great cars, but as you say "This is a mans car"
Call me crazy, but I like the 930 more than my dads 993tt.
Nothing gives you that on edge feeling of the 930. :)
And you can hot rod the hell out of them.
Best looking porshe ever.

Many years ago, shortly after my wife and I were married, one of her friends asked "What do you think about Tom working on those old Porsches?" My wife replied: There are three reasons I like it:
1. I know exactly where he is
2. There are no other women there
3. I get to drive cool cars

Case closed, her friend did not ask anymore questions about me and cars. Just reassured me I married the right woman.

I'm in the great wife.com camp too. She bought I '91 C2 Targa back in '96 before we were married and had kids. We still have it and have decided to put some time/$$$ into it. This week its in the shop for H&R's and Bilsteins. New rims ordered yesterday and she is so excited to get her car ready to race the kids to school in the morning. She's always late getting out the door you know ;)

My wife proudly refers to my 964 as the "Redheaded Mrs"; my plate is 2W (Second Wife).
