Hi Guys,
Though my Headlight lenses were looking quite sad, so I decided to swap to new ones! Should be an easy job.... NOT! I thought it would be similar to the old VW Bettle, but Porsche has their "super seals" for the headlights, and they sure are "sealed" and tight!!! Removing the philips screw and the outer "GP-White Painted" ring was no issue of course. Then I had to figure out that there was another screw (bolt) at the same spot when the ring was removed.... Took a while for me to see that *silly me*, but then I removed that screw with a flathead screwdriver. OK... So then just to remove the lamphousing then... NO! Really tight as I said, and I guess most of you guys have experienced this! After hours of trying I had a lot of pain in my finger nails. Didn't dare to use something to pry it up as I would probably scratch my paint. So... Do it the Swedish way then! Get something from your hardware store that looks like Austin Powers "Swedish Erection Pump": ![]() Then, attach the Sucker to your lens: ![]() And use like 100 pounds of force and wiggeling to get it loose: ![]() When that is done the job isn't complicated, just takes some time... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm almost done, had to order new seals between the lamphouse and the fender though. Will have her done this week! Have a good one! /Tobias |

I must thank you for your tip regarding the screw/bolt that is needed to be removed even after the outer retainer ring was removed... I was wondering why it was so tightly mounted on! Once that screw was removed with the flathead screw driver, it was MUCH easier to remove the actual lamphousing! I didn't even have to resort to buying that suction contraption you had! :-) |
