I'm baaaaaaack... er, well - sorta 8-)

Hey gals!

Thought I'd say hey to my friends here, I'm back in the 911 saddle.

While it ain't another 930, I missed having a 911 too much and just sold my '58 TR3A of 19yrs to get this. Figured time for a change and my three younger kids could never (ever) go in the '3. I loaded it onto a trailer to Wichita the day after this arrived, somehow I finagled 2 simultaneous sight-unseen (!) transactions that worked out just splendidly.

I'm giddy I found pretty much literally the exact car I could have hoped for, and it just sort of happened / fell together. Wish it had heated seats, but it's a CA car originally. I always dug burgundy German cars but never wanted one for mesself - until I saw this combo w/ the silver top - I was weak knee'd and had to have it.

Crappy seller pics / pics from delivery night last week are all I've got thus far sorry:

Plans for it that I've come up with so far:

-lower / corner balance / align (Rancho, begone!)
-Euro rear corner indicators (rid the criminally indistinguishable red's, but wtf those are priceybits compared to the 930)
-Xe conversion (aftermarket retrofit, wish it had Litronics)
-oval tips (source / style suggestions appreciated)
-steering wheel of some sort (possible airbagectomy - I realllly miss my Prototipo mit hub extender)
-mufflers (suggestions appreciated - I want good sound but not obnoxiously loud... tho it'll never be my RarlyL8 & Powerhaus setup shooting flames, sigh)

Feels great to be 'back'... hope to keep keepin in touch witchyouses har... miss you dorks 8-).

Paul, glad you're back in the P-car scene.
Somehow, people like trying other machines... but most of the time come back to the real thing realizing that "there is no substitute".
Welcome back!

Nice, the NA sound through a Fabspeed sport exhaust is awesome, you need some wheels too, enjoy in good health.

Hey! It's ^^^the 'ole gang^^^!!!

thanks for the warm thoughts guys - feels great to be back(ish)

Linc, agreed on the sound - that 3.6 is torqqqqqqqqqquey, and the intake plenum makes me want to rub my naughtybits upon it. It sounds so chesty! I hope to do 'some' exhaust work, but not 'ruin it' (it's a cab, and not a 930, so just want a bit more sound but nothing totally bonkers).

I actually like the Cup II's... doubt I'd change them 8-).

Turbo? Ha! Too funny Todd. The torque and gearing make for a great match, it ain't the fastest car but who cares... it's very well balanced and a great all around package.

Jakester! Rollbar... heh, I hear ya. Are there any that don't negate rear-seat-usage tho??? Was sorta the entire point of buying this (shuttle the kids around to practices, etc.).

I do hope to autox it some, and maybe some DE's that don't require bars (non-PCA basically), but we'll see. I'm still a bit on event sabbatical, kids' schedules / activities / cost pretty much nuke that angle for the time being.

Thanks for the thoughts on the car - it really IS dead sexxxxxxxxxxxxxxaaaaaaaaaay 8-). Suuuuch a great driving car too, it's very rewarding.

Great to hear from YFF's!!!

Paulie, welcome back to the fold! So sad you had to let go your '3...I "lost" my MGA just last year, and I'd had it longer than your '3 ("lost" is a relative word that would take multiple shots of the finest Scotch to relive/relate the story...beware of the female species).

Love your new ride!

Pretty car. Let's see some engine shots! They look naked without an intercooler but so easy to work on.

Thanks Ken - here's the only one I've got thus far, it's realllllly cleaaaaan:

Of course, w/in 450Paulmiles that rubber boot over the center / top shroud disintegrated - d'oh. Apparently it happens to all of them. Tells me the PO babied the car if I did it in 450mi, so that's good 8-).

Hey Mark, good to hear from you again. Yeah, this is sorta bittersweet in that regard. Sure I'll miss the '3 (and the fact that I'd restored it kinda in memory of my dad who I'd lost @ 18 as he'd had one).

But, I got sooooooooooo muuuuuuch use out of the thing! I basically came to the same conclusion I did w/ the 930... I'd done everything I ever wanted to with the car, except blow it up or wad it - and truth be told as I age I was getting delusions of grandeur driving the thing! Visions of losing a wheel and veering into a semitruck, into a pole, off a cliff, etc. D'oh.

So, best to get out on top I figured. Got entirely more for it than I expected, went quick, sight unseen.

Wow, interesting both of us moving on like that around the same time. I'd really like to hear the story on yours... after you've imbibed in the proppah amount of Singlemalt'ing 8-). Hope it was a sale and not a loss of some sort...

Sure I could have bought another 930, but, BTDT for 4yrs & 20k, and, this is a more driveable car that I can get more use out of with less worry / fuss. And I had to have another convertible. In many (many) ways, the 993 is an entirely nicer 'driver' 8-).

It ain't a 930 (!!! what is?), but... it'll do heh heh.

really great tho to be chattin w/ all youseseses again, fersure!

Welcome back!

That is a very nice example you found there.
Used to have an old E30 BMW in a burgundy color. It was a great car.

I would love to have a 993 like that as a dd.

Looking forward to your (looney) inputs on the board again.

Jesper / Tate / Cole / Paulman!

SO great to hear from youseses all!

Really great!

Good to be back (sorta) - glad you'll have me 8-)

Tate, how's Lane's UR Gallardo been? I need stories / reports!

Colester... I gotta read up on yer projekt updates! It was coming along quite well last I'd checked in. Great to hear from you and hope you're doing just SWELL out thar!

Thanks for the thoughts Jesper, it's 'sorta' my daily - I'll use the 600 in inclement weather (sorta a paradox there eh?) and for daddy doodies. But agreed, it's a great (great!) driver. I love the color, and yes e30's look real sharp in this shade.

Fearnot my impending looneyisms... no change there certainly 8-). Beware.

Paul:

930 life has been great. I love driving the car. So far, all I have done with it is drive it and clean/polish it. I removed the cat and like the sound it makes much better. Of course it will go back on ASAP!

I really want to keep the car stock, at least until I see how well it does in PCA Concours events. If its not a winner there, then I'll think about some more tasteful mods.

Tom

Paul...welcome back to the 911 craziness! Your 993 looks really clean. Jacob mentioned about the need for rollbar for tracking...is there a bolt-in rollbar available for your car? That way you can remove them when not tracking so you can give your lucky kids rides.
