That is really neat about MS but it also can be a huge headache. These "writers" sometimes write code and give to the community for testing and then wait to hear back about conflicting issues. For instance, one may rewrite code for whatever enhancement. This change may conflict with say their launch control working or the EGO control. Reason a developer may not know if his or her change will affect something is they may not use EVERY function MS can provide on their own personal ECU - so they leave it for others to report back to them any bugs.

Read the MS forums and see the guys who have issues and no one seems to be able to help them. That's the stuff that would keep me awake at night.

that's not true, but then again why wouldn't you call the shop that sold you the unit for tech help?
This is almost like arguing religion. For those that need to spend $5k or more to feel they are worthy of porsche go right ahead. But for those guys that don't feel that need and are willing to learn a little more about their hobby i'm sure MS won't disappoint.

Ultimately it's your choice and our input is nothing more than our opinion and we all know what opinions are like

Darren makes a very important point. The unit is only as good as the co. that supports it. My personal choice was the SDS system, and at any time I could contact them for resources. Phillip

Look at the latest code release for each hardware item

MS2/Microsquirt: MS2/Extra 3.2.4

MS3: 1.1.2

MS2 has less features BUT has been out longer and has more Development/Optimizations/ added-fixed features / bug fixes

MS3 Newer More features and Much earlier in development

MS2 should be More stable than MS3 due to code maturity/bake time.

Most EFI issues are wiring /sensor related

AEM and Motec are NOT without issue.

There are enough folks here that will help through any issue. You would only need to lay awake at night in anticipation of all the driveability/improvements that your engine is about to endure!

...Want MS to change the radio station to a rock channel at anything over 70% throttle? Or maybe you want......
I have heard, it is better to trigger this off boost and rpm

I see a lot of people using the Carrera manifold. I was planning on sticking with stock but I'm curious what the advantages and disadvantages are of each. Is it cheaper to stay with mine and buy the kit to adapt the injectors or to buy a Carrera with rails? Does the Carrera manifold work with my OEM intercooler?

There are quite a few past threads regarding the two manifolds - here are a couple . . .

I will stay with the stock one as I like it simple. No need for IC modding. I really hope to get the car running for next summer with CIS though, and then deside if I need efi for fueling or does the ignition upgrade make it work good enough for my liking.

There's a lot to be gained with fully programmable ignition itself!
