How much torque is the 3.6 making @ 3000 RPM? (I don't know, I'm asking!)
Isn't that the difference? N/A motors making power higher?
My torque curve from 3000 is pretty flat. I got the impression that 915 can deal with high-torque better if it's spinning fast enough.
Heck, folks run V8's with 915's - or even 901's - in teeners. Weight is clearly a factor too :)

Heh. Many folks in the N/A world seem to think a 915 just soldiers on forever, if it still shifts OK and doesn't make noise. I don't think that's quite right...
