Did '78-'79 930's not come with rear seat belts??

Have a deposit on a '79 930 and no rear seat belts. Seller says that lots of cars came without them. Is this true??

Not to my knowledge, I've owned a 77 and a 79 930, both had rear seat belts.

In the US, I am pretty sure lap belts were required after 67.

One of the ideas I had for my 7 year old was to go to a race shop or go cart shop and get a set of 4 point racing harnesses to install back there. That would be better for the little ones as far as safety and it would look cool as well. I did not price it out so install may be a bit steep if you can't do it yourself.

'78/79 930's were not equipped with rear seat belts but they did have the post mount attachments for them (black plugs just above the rear seat bottoms).

No rear seat belts, but plugs included. Totally correct!

BTW, I added mine, piece of cake.

Hope the hospital's not too far from the house `cause you're gonna be driving home to swap cars.

Congratulations!
He is right though... might want to consider driving back home. I have put a rear facing car seat in the back of mine many times and I don't think my wife would have appreciated the ride right after giving birth, you need to bring the seat all the way forward, and put the backrest upright. Also, to give the rear facing seat a bit more room, I always removed the backrest of the rear seat I put the baby seat into.

Another thing to consider, if your car is as loud as mine, she will be mad.

Or on another note, it would be a great thing to tell your kid when he is 16: "I picked you up from the hospital in THAT car!"

It does fit though, two car seats in this picture, with the back rest removed for the rear facing one:

I couldn't get the rear facing seat in... I have had the Britax Marathon in the front and back of my 86 930 numerous times. It actually fits the early 930 sport seats really well.
