3 generation Pcar trip

So my 18 year old son goes off to college on Saturday, but before he goes we decide to do a 3 generation Porsche ride. Flagstaff AZ to Payson AZ, eat breakfast and return. Google Map the road, pretty cool ride.

My dad drove his 1990 C4, My son drove my wife's 981 Boxster, and I drove the 930.

A great memory for all of us.

Sounds like a blast. Once the p-car bug gets into the blood of a family, it just never leaves.
Great memories for ever.

Makes me wish I had two Porsches. My middle son will arrive in town this afternoon for a two week pre-deployment leave. He and his fellow Marines head out for Afghanistan in mid-September. How I wish he was heading off to college.

This will be his second deployment to Afghanistan. Add to that my eldest son's two combat tours in Iraq (also with the Corps) and you'll probably understand that I'm more than a little tired of sending my sons into harm's way. When, oh when will my country pull its head out and mind our own business???!!!

Okay, off my soap box ... for the time being anyway.

Looks like a great trip!

It was a rhetorical statement. There are far too many dollars at stake (for some) to hope that we'll ever be at peace. Ya gotta seek it to find it ...

Should have let your dad drive the 930........the oldest should get to drive the coolest car.

Reminds me of a recent trip my dad took to visit me. I said "hey you want to drive the old girl" and pointed at the 930. I was lecturing him about letting it warm up before building any boost. He gave me the REALLY? look as he bought it new and gave it to me in the mid 90s .

Oh I did offer the 930 to my dad!

He is 77 and I think it scares him a bit, he passed. When I showed it to him the first time he gave me the widow maker "that thing swaps ends" lecture. Then he said it sure is beautiful.

Porsches do get in your blood. The reason I bought the 930 was due to a test ride I got in the back seat of a new 77 930 when me dad was taking delivery of a new 924. He wanted to buy a 240z and I talked him into the 924, pretty good since I was only 10 at the time. In 1990 he bought the C4, it now has about 65,000 miles on it.

That's one nice story! Sounds like Porsches run in your family's gene!
