...tranny troubles...

...about a month ago, while draining tranny lube after a hard shift resulted in my losing reverse gear, i posted what had happened with a pic of the shift-fork-reverse-lever piece that had broken off and been dumped with the last lube change...i was able to find the part through my local porsche dealer, but figured i would hold off on replacement - i can live without reverse gear for the while that my 930 is running like a top, purring like a kitten...
...this passed weekend, my negligence got the best of my conscience and i drained the lube to see if i should think about getting that piece in there - if not for the reverse gear but for the health of my transmission - which has been running a smooth as ever, as well as the design could allow...no grinding, no noise, no hard to find shift changes...
...well, out of the swepco blue cascade of draining trans lube, i find a mound of aluminum (silver) shavings of various sizes on the inspection plate as i removed it from the case...and later, while cleaning up, i come across the piece in the photo, not in the oil, but on the floor, and NOT saturated with swepco as i would expect it to be...maybe it came out and i laid on it, and thats why i have blue oil stains on my t shirty? i don't know...but i cannot find anything convincing me of what on earth it is...my best guess is a bearing plate...teeth in tranny still look good, but visibility is minimal from inspection plate area...
i am planning on dropping engine and tranny tonight a taking a first time ever look into the tranny...
...any insights, clues, hints, and names of soCal tranny guys would be appreciated beyond belief...just don't remind me that im a dummy for continuing my driving after the first discovery!!!

There's not much aluminum inside that gearbox. Also, on second look that almost looks anodized. I'm suspecting it is not from inside your gearbox.
