Has anyone run turbo with an early rear bumper?

Looks like it might be too tight to fit a turbo behind it ? I like the minimalistic look of the early bumper.

Remember there was a pelicanite that posted a picture of a pre-74 with a 930 engine fitted under the ducktale .

Did a search and there is some picture in this thread.

I already have a flat lid and a ducktail and both fit but how about the bumper?

Yes, they're are a couple of those around.. however, fitment on every car is going to be a little different.
Of course you do know;

- You will need to remove your reflector box from the tub to fit up the early style bumper.

- Your best bet for a bumper source is going to be MA Shaw or GT-Racing

I think I would also have to run zork or something very small on exhaust side. Maybe too much work and a bit unreversible regarding the reflector base.

Thanks

Its reversible if taken out properly, but its work to do so, and more work to properly put back and re-finish.

It fits but is a bit exposed. I think it looks mean with the exposed headers, reminds me of the 2.1 turbo RSR. I have RarlyL8 headers and muffler with custom wastegate dump and tail pipe.

Nice, do you have bolt on reflector base or is it welded? Any pics of it?

This is a bit of a hijack, sorry OP, but what trans are you using. I have an opportunity to put a 3.3 Turbo in my longhood.

Not sure I understand, are you talking about a heat shield? Only thing I have is a reflective heat blanket attached to the backside of the license plate panel.

His is a true early car, so it never came with a "Porsche" reflector panel. To fit an early car rear bumper, you'd need to remove the sheetmetal piece between your tail lights.

Have you ever considered using an IROC rear bumper? Would bolt up with no modification, you loose the clumsy rubber bits from the impact bumper too.

Yes, it can be done but there is very little room for anything that does a really good job muffling.
Don't put an IROC bumper on a longhood or vice-versa, that is model year mixing and doesn't match well with the rockers and front bumper.

Yeah, you might be right about the over all look with mixed parts.

Smurfbus,

Is there a thread about your intercooler setup you can point me to? I would like to go without a tail on my car, but would prefer to keep an intercooler.

No thread but Chris at Turbokraft said it was an one off and NOT something they will recommend performance vise as its so thin to fit under the plain lid. But its fine for me and if I see performance loss I will connect again my water meth. I just tried 1 to 1.1bar and all went well and logs were a bit on the rich side so I will iterate until its fine in all gears and rpms.

The last change I made dipped the torque peak area under 11AFR to 10.3AFR so its a bit harsh adjustment but I hope to get a good compromise.

Here is the pic from the last owner.
