flachbau

Hi All. I have a client with a 930 Flachbau who wants to convert to standard front. The slant is all steel and appears to be factory with correct motor configuration. What he wants to do is find someone who has a standard 930 and trade the slant parts as well as his boxed rockers(which also appear to be factory steel as well) and all hardware to someone who wants the Flachbau option with the boxed rockers.
He also wants some cash non top. The color of the parts is factory A1 Black and are flawless. If anyone is interested it doesn't matter the color as I will be paint matching them here at my shop and can match the slant parts to yours as well. If interested please call or email.

Regards,

Kevin Michael

If it's a factory M505 I would not do it. Look what the rare factory 505's are going for right now. Sell the 505, buy a standard 930, you'll have lots of cash left over.

Agree with what 65rsr said. Don't cut up what could be a valuable car. You need more info before making any decision. Suggest that you disclose the model year of the 930 and post some photos of the car inside and out, so that other members of this forum can give you an idea of whether it is a factory slant or not, and some idea of the the car's value, as is.

If he wants to have it modded, nothing wrong with that, its his car,

OP asked for how to do something , not personal opinions on whether he should or not.

Maybe he wont ever sell it so then value or rarity doesn't matter at all cos at the end of the day HE is the one who has to drive it not anyone else and if i had that car id do the same cos to me slantnose cars are the ugliest porsche ever built and i wouldnt look at ever purchasing one, but i would if it had a 930 front as they look much better

Rarity alone doesn't equate to value
But Desirability does

but that doesnt matter cos its HIS car !
what if hes a millionaire?

GO FOR IT !

If you look at Kevin's site: My Business - Home

You'll see he's been a Porsche guy [self-declared "nut"] for some time, so I'm sure he know's what he's getting in to.

I already have the slant fenders, if I didn't, I'd probably take him up on it! As, I desire "the slant!"

Good Luck in your search!

Personally, if the car is already converted long ago with factory parts, it's probably worth more as is (depending on the quality of conversion). I'd leave it as is, and attempt to sell/trade. I believe a legit conversion with oem parts will command a premium over a standard 930, but less than a 505 car.

It should, as you mentioned " factory parts are used" and of comparable finish quality, if the only thing different is the hands that did the assembly. Lots of people could not get or were not aware of this 505 option and upgraded their car after already owning it at great expense. Of course there are the ones that got wrecked, then were converted. Many of those used other parts and material. This is the cause of a lot of the bad value karma.

sure I agree with you. I have seen a lot of aftermarket conversions and have owned two myself but I have also seen real 505's and this is factory parts. when the lights are up you see nice plastic surrounds with tight seams and no open areas and the motor and bucket guides as well as shaft are smooth and silent. everything most aftermarket kits are not.

I see no right or wrong way to go with this 930. It originally had standard 930 fenders, someone liked the slope look better and changed it. Now someone likes the standard 930 look better. Since the slope body work was not original it adds little value. The only value is in what the current owner would enjoy.
