19" rims on 930's?

Anyone here running 19" rims on their 930's?

Is it possible, or is 18" the maximum recommended size?

Any pics of 19" rims on 930's here? If so, please share

Hi 911,

For what it's worth, I'm running 18's and want to drop down to a 17". I don't like the way the car handles right now and hopefully it'll be better with a smaller wheel.

The wheel wells just arent big enough for a 19" wheel. Big modern wheels on old classic cars isn't always a good fit. Stock 16 or 17 seem to be the best match.
I went with 17" Lindsay Fuchs, which provides greater tire selection but still retains the original look.

I like the look of my 18s and prefer the handling of the low profile tires.

Drove from 15" to 19", liked the 17" most, 16" seems to be a bit more comfortable and 19 simply was terrible, way too harsh in every way including cars behavior

The maximum radius for a 930 (in my opinion) is 26". Once you get to 19" the sidewall is too low to keep within that radius. It also looks cartoonish. The best ride I had on the Red Rocket was 18s with 315/30 tires out back on 11.5" wheels. 17s would be perfect if someone would make a 315/30-17.

I have 17s but have thought about 19s over the years and have kept pics that I have found. Here you go.

Brian nailed it - cartoonish.

Here's the only picture ever needing to be referenced on the matter of 19s and older cars (most cars for that matter):

'nuff said (nail / ohsounfortunate head)...

17" x 8.5" on the front...18" x 11" on the rear, works great for me with lots of tire choices as well.

Honestly it's your car and if you want 19's then go for it...now with that said 19's look out of place on these old girls. The Slant(which can somehow pull it off) that was pictured actually did not look bad at all..probably due to the color combo of wheel and car. 18's would be the maximum size for the 930. I personally would not go bigger than 17"..keeping it aftermarket period correct. Deep dish of course. I wish I could have my Ruf widened to 17x11 and lose the spacers..as 17x11 in the rear is the ultimate size for the 930.

Redturbo/Jesper, Thanks for the compliments! I've had a few different looks with the car over the years but finally decided that stock-ish 930 look is what I liked.

I think a 930 looks best lowered on 15" wheels. Think Magnus Walker's 930's. My 930 came with 345/35/15's and 255/45/15's on 15" BBS RS's, and it looked mean as f. Had to ditch those when tires were no longer available.

Because of the lack of suitable tires in 15", I would stick to stock 16" or go with aftermarket 17" wheels. The drawback of the 16" wheels is that anything wider than 245 is hard to come by or nonexistent.

Agreed - the cars in those pictures look, as Paul might say, absolutely redonkulous with 19 inchers!

I think 19s look to big even on modern cars that are designed with/for them. Like everybody else I think 15-17 looks the best and 18 is tolerable if the rest of the wheel looks period correct.

Agree, the 19's do look awkward. I think I'll shop for 17's or 18's instead. Looks more proportionate

I think 18's are the max that you can go without being cartoonish. I am partial to 18's as that is what I have on my car
