W5. anyone ever use a hotter plugs? W5

i was considering trying a W5 since mine are so black, and yes, i am running rich at idle but still lean at 3k or so. not as bad, i am at around 15.5 instead of the 16's.

i have been talking to a guy that has a shop just south or me. he is going to let me use his smoke machine this week to check for air leaks, but he suggested a hotter plug. i am now using the W3cs bosch silver plugs.
he really liked my car and seems to have taken an interest in helping me.

i was thinking of jsut getting some bosch copper plugs.

i did have a thought about my problem, the only thing with it is that many others would have the problem i have.
the header. could the header be causing it to go lean as the RPM's increase until i go on boost?

oh, he was behind me the other day in his mercedes S55, yes we were racing. he said i smelled extremely rich on boost.
he got the jump on me a few times. man that thing is fast.

John Walker recommended going from a factory heat range plug to one that is warmer (keep in mind it never really gets hot out here in PNW). He is going to make the switch during my service on Monday.

I'm using NGK's in if I recall the 7 heat range. Started out with 8's and looked like it was running a bit too cold, so went up on heat range.
GK racing plugs.
