Help with leak down numbers
Hello, fellow 930 owners. I love my 930 very much but as time goes on I wonder if my future involves expenditures other than a vintage Porsche. I recently had some minor work done on the car and had my mechanic do a compression and leak down test. these are the numbers and I am wondering if these are good numbers.
CYL 1, 115 PSI, 3% LEAKAGE CYL 2, 110 PSI, 5% LEAKAGE CYL 3, 115 PSI, 3% LEAKAGE CYL 4, 115 PSI, 3% LEAKAGE CYL 5, 115 PSI, 3% LEAKAGE CYL 6, 110 PSI, 4% LEAKAGE Any thoughts? Tom G |
While the PSI are "low" (normally around 160 for a 3.2 NA), there is less than 5% differential between the high and low which is good.
This may be due to the way it was done (time on, temperature, gauge and so on). As for the leak down, they are pretty good. I'm sure that some Turbo expert will chime in. |
Leakage( 5% and under) and compression (110-120) numbers for a turbo engine with a 7:1 static compression ratio are excellent.
