Turbo 4 speed to G50

Hi all I am trying to get measurments or a diagram on machining G50 bellhousing and input shaft to fit it into a 1981 930 turbo I do not want to cut the torque tube... does anyone have a diagram...

Mario Motta 12-08-2014 09:39 PM

I did on my 78'. Everything will fit. I will send you some picture when back home. I installed removable gearbox mount, spacers on the torsion bar and i made more space under the gearstick (less than an inch) to fit the g50 gearstick from carrera 89'. At the end the only modification i did on the car was this little box i made under the gearstick. I will check how much i cutted from bell housing.

Hi Lite 75.. is this of both bellhousing and input shaft are there any diagrams or pictures that would show the total swap...

lite75 12-16-2014 09:29 PM

yes, both. 28mm should do it for you unless its a 75-77.

JakobM 12-17-2014 06:39 PM

what if 75-77 ?

Thanks

They will need additional room, either move the motor back or notch the torsion tube. 75-77 have the motor mounted further forward compared to the later models.

This is accurate. We usually say 1.1mm. That's how much our 3 piece mainshafts are shortened.

Matt

Thanks, I know the engine is mounted 2.5mm (as I am informed) closer to the center of car compared to a 78-89, what I ment was, do we have knowledge to the additional measurements that has to be removed on the shaft, housing etc. to fit a 75-77 OE mounting?

I was under the impression that a G50 bellhousing could be set up and shortened to fit a 75-77 without having the engine moved 2.5mm backwards
