I get it now....
I finished my 930 project before Christmas, and finally took the car out to stretch its legs yesterday. Stock 1981 3.3 Euro 930, but when it comes on boost, the combination of exhilaration and joy is hard to beat! Left me smiling from ear to ear
Now I understand what all the fuss is about. Still some sorting to be done, but I'm looking forward to getting to know the car better.

Nice car and I love the color. Nobody gets it until they experience it. The look on my daughter's face the first time she rode in mine was priceless. She just kept saying "do it again, dad!"

Ah yes, experiencing the boost of a properly tuned 930 is quite an experience, just learn how to properly keep it in check in the twisties.
Very nice looking car! .

Thanks guys.
Yes, first Turbo for me, I'm having fun. I've driven two 930's before. The first one was probably 30 years ago, and it belonged to a friend's father, so I drove it around the block with a light foot. The second was a pristine car owned by a friend a few years ago. It barely had a rock chip and while he encouraged me to test it out, I knew that if it came back with a nick, chip or scratch (whether caused by me or not), I would never hear the end of it, so I went up and down the street gingerly. I don't think I ever felt the rush before driving my 930 on Christmas Day. I see how this can be addictive - I woke up this morning thinking "where can I drive today?" ![]() A couple more pics: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice 930! It is addictive and makes it hard to work on because if you are working on it you can not drive it.
Congratulations. Rahl |

The 930 rocks...
When the boost kicks in it feels just a wee bit dangerous. On a modified car, it feels quite explosive... Enjoy the ride... Bo |

Had more fun driving yesterday. Car needs some fine tuning and a bit of final mechanical sorting, as it hasn't seen much use in the last 6 or 7 years, but I can see racking up some miles in the car, and possibly using it as a daily driver.
I sourced the tartan fabric, which looks like a pretty close match to OEM, and had my upholsterer re-cover the sport seats in leather with the fabric inserts. I love the look and it adds a subtle "pop" to the car.
