Mahle 3.3l or 3.4l piston and cylinders
Hello, I have a decission to make and hope you can help me on the way.
My engine is currently being rebuildt and i was going to go for the Mahle 3.4l 7.5:1 piston and cylinder sett, the only problem is they are out of stock and not available before June. the 3.3l stock set is available. So my question will the uppgrade to 3.4l be worth the wait? A little info on the car: 930 1979 K27 turbo Changing to SC cams Rarlyl8 headers and exhaust. Appreciate your comments. Best regards, John |
Why go Mahle?? There is LN Engineering with their "Nickies" cylinders and pistons. And there is JB Racing with their Custom cylinders and JE Pistons...
Many people have used them and have had nothing but good things to say. (and some in VERY high HP outputs....) |
personally i would not do the JE if i could afford mahle.
but i would wait. you will always wonder or what if after. |
3.4 is gonna be more fun than 3.3 and Mahle will last longer than JE in an air cooled Porsche.
If you're going to pay more than this try and make a deal with them... they just want to sell them. Porsche 930 Mahle 3.4 98mm Pistons Cylinders Mahle TURBO 7.5-1 Compression |
Thank you for all your replies,
I believe I'll try to source some 3.4l if i can find them for the right price or if not i will wait. Apparently they are quite higher priced in U.S. Than here in europe. About $1000 in difference. Thank you for the link I've contacted them. |
Don't know LN engineering, so have just not considered them.
