I like any one of the many 20-50 V Twin oils.

Sixty mile drive to Cars & Coffee in Lafayette, CO this morning. The drive was mostly easy and relaxed but did hit boost twice, taking RPM to just over 5K only once. Car ran strong and quiet - no funny or concerning noises. Still not certain what to think of the 3-5 minutes of light clatter that occurred last weekend as it hasn't made itself known since (and hadn't previously).

In my opinion Brad Penn soot oil is the dirtiest low flashpoint oil you can put in a 911 turbo.
I read all the BS about it and I used it probably 3 times so I've seen the film of soot and fine sludge it leaves in the chain cases and valve covers that I have never seen with any other motor oil, and so have other people what work on these things full time every day. Ask Chris at Turbokraft, or Stahl Motorsports, or Gunnar Racing.

I'd only use it in an old lawn mower.

That's good news. For peace of mind, I would recommend an oil and filter change. Check the magnetic drain plugs for anything unusual, open up the old oil filter and check to see if there are any metal bits or any black particles of coke. This might tell you where to start looking.

Norm, that sounds like an exhaust leak to me (as heard blasting on my BOSE multi-media speakers) . . would be wise to look into that first.
Well there's the problem Ronnie, using Bose for audio reproduction. ;) :)

Or, their lack of audio reproduction. :)

Hard to imagine any scenario other than a collapsed tensioner that would "fix" itself that dramatically.

Norm- At CnC this morning I should have started my car back up so we could compare side by side how our cars sounded - just as a datapoint. Happy to meet up again if you want to compare....

On another subject, Brandon, I meant to ask if you re-indexed your read torsion bars to get that ride height and, if so, whether it's as big a PITA as I fear it might be.

Good call. Going by the year of the 930, those are the pre-Carrera tensioners.

The great Robin Williams came up with that one.

+1
I wouldn't want to put my lawnmower at risk with Brad Penn. It would be good for killing weeds but that's about it.

Duuuuudddddsssssssss, all this talk of "Richards" above needs to be balanced by a healthy dose of . . .

So nkowi (whatever your real name is...sometimes I hate this forum $$hit where we don't know who the hell we're talking to).
Your issue seems to have morphed to the much debated oil discussion. Whatever is going on, let's be clear...I don't give a rats ass if you use Brad Penn or Crisco in your engine, you've got a noise that is not normal. Any update yet?
