Hit or skip? Retro mirrors

I had these on the shelf so I had to test fit them. I think the alu finish is too much. Sebrings in black might work better.

I'd like to do 935 style mirrors but I cant find nice mirror hole covers anywhere?

I always liked this Group B 930. Try painting them black.

Out of curiosity, what base are you using?

You can see the Ronal logo on the wheel here.

On the pic its on a flag base. I could not get my aero base off. I found instructions for aero so I might try again. 935 or similar dtm as brits call them are nicer to my eye, but the mirror holes might be too ugly with some covers (witch are not even available). Im not going the right way of welding them shut and repainting. Too much €€€ and permanent. I like to keep options to change the look with not much hazzle.

Very cool, thank you for the reply. I thought they looked like flag bases. Any more pics? I have a similar mirror I was thinking of putting on my SC. I was going to make a metal base and use a Durant mirror gasket to cover the holes, but your solution would take way less effort.

For 935 mirrors, unless you fill the holes, I don't think it looks right.

Now we're talking.. if you're upgrading mirrors on a 930, I think it should be 935 style or 993 Aero.. they both look just right!

ever try actually SEEING out of 935 dogears?

virtually useless IMO / unfortunately

huge SKIP on the retro mirrors - look completely out of place, both in color / shape

I do dig the Vitaloni Sebring's and those can be modified to fit using the OE mirror base - do a search here

I considered going that route whilst I had mine off for painting, but opted against it due to the aforementioned SEVERE lack of visibility... no thanks.

A 930 doesn't need rear view mirrors. Because nothing will ever catch up.

Personnaly I would skip.

They would fit better on a early 70's 930 or a 60/70's 911

I found some smoked oval sidemarkers online. They might blend in somewhat (if they are even big enough to cover the holes) on a black car. But its not porsche look having sidemarkers in that spot.

I think Im going to end up with black sebrings with either the flag bases or aero bases although aeros could potentially bring some money if sold as is. My car is backdated so retro is the way to go, IMO. Maybe I should try these black, alu is too in your face when there is no other alu skin up there. If I had shiny window frames then it might look better.

While you can't argue that vitalonies have the same view as OEM, they do the job and are actually useful, not just for show.
Thrre will always be blind angles, it id mainly a matter of getting used to the view.

I have the RUF 935 mirrors, they are not bad to see out of. They have convex mirrors. It's not cheap to do it the right way. Truth be told if it wasn't for the RUF theme on my car I would have kept the flag..imo they are the best looking mirrors for the 930.

Plus 1 on the 935 style. They actually work a lot better than you would think. Put the round convex stick-on only on the passenger side and they work great.
