9306800094 76 930 rescue project
I bought a couple of 76 930 project cars late last year. One is in pieces and is going to ebay to pay for the restoration work on 9306800094. Car 94 was a great build- no S/R, light yellow, turbo designation, limited slip, sport seats. A really fantastic base for the car I think Porsche should have built- a light weight sport purposes car. Car was a DE sled for many years, repainted Red, standard track upgrades, a long ways between what I got Vs what I want but process has started, I'm very excited, :D.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1430193495.jpg

And the journey begins!
You and rdwine are definitely going long on turbo Carreras! |
Go big or go home:p

Great project Phil! I have light yellow 1976 930 # 9306800097. Will be nearly twins when you are done.
Best of luck, Rahl |
Fantastic! That's going to look beautiful once done.
I am nipping at your heels with #9306800142. Yours is going from red to yellow, mine from yellow to silver. I am finally done sourcing parts & breakdown of the panels will begin this month. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1430196594.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1430196455.jpg |
Rhal- that is awesome, please post some pics if you can.
Jamie- great project, good luck! Most everyone bit*ches about rising values but the obvious benefit is you can invest a decent sum of money in one of these and still come out right side up, win - win in my book. Phil |
Rahl,
Thanks- lovely car! Phil |
Thanks Phil,
It's mostly original; I have added some performance parts that I thought were needed for a very clean "driver". The car always ran very hot so I decided to add a Ruf oil cooler, lines and Ruf front valance, also a Ruf short shifter, adjustable spring plates, 22mm front and 28mm rear torsion bars, thru the body adjustable front sway bar and rear adjustable sway bar, VDO boost guage with tell-tail, AEM A/F guage. Just changed the steering wheel from factory to Porsche Design MOMO, love the aviation look of it and the clear view of the dash. Not sure if I will use these but on the shelf I have late 930 turbo brakes with rears modified to bolt up to 3" trailing arms and 21mm master cylinder, old school dual plug distributor with two MSD boxes, 0.2 bar waste gate spring to use with a boost controller(If I can find one). The turbo Carrera is getting so valuable I'm thinking of maybe selling it in the future and buying a rough early 930 or 911, building a pumped up non-intercooled turbo motor and ala 1976-77 so I can drive it hard and not worrying about it as much as my original 76 930. How much do you want for your basket case 930? PM me if you like. Rahl |
Looks like fun Phil.

Awesome! Can't wait to follow the progress on this build:cool:
|
Work is progressing- car turns out be in very good shape underneath all that red paint :D, always a crap shot.

Looking good, Phil. I don't think I'm going to have time to paint mine before Rennsport, but you are motivating me to try!

Unfortunately, mine isn't a 930, but you found a great colored car. And pretty rare. Congrats. |
Matt-I had a light yellow 73 T, thought color looked great on a 911 body.
Kenik- I don't car will be finished in time for Rennsport but it would be terrific if it was. Phil |
I love the do it yourself attitude in this forum!
