Identify this piece if tin please

My 1976 row 930 ( 9306700570 ) currently has AC. I don't know if it was added or if it came that way from the factory.

Reason I ask is I am ordering a new piece of engine tin. The piece below in the photo.

The dealer is asking me this...

"Hello Kie,

The Engine Cover is available from Germany.

With A/C - 911-106-085-03 - $147.94

Without A/C - 911-106-085-02 - $112.66

3-5 Weeks or +10% for 3-5 Day expedited

I would recommend checking if you can find any part numbers on the current version to verify, as this is a non-returnable item."

Thanks all!

That is the rear engine tin for a Turbo. Although it has been modified in a few places.

I don't think your parts guy knows what he's talking about (common these days) but that part should have a 930 part #

I doubt also that it would have two part#'s as most were modified for the A/C, and that part/tin if you can find it is usually about $350

If I'm not mistaken, Dave at MS Road & Race has a NOS unit.

I just re-read your post as well.. an early RoW 930 clearly would have had dealer installed air, and they would have modified the tin to fit.

The correct part number for what you need is 930.106.851.05

Man, if you can get that for that cheap order me one lol!

Seriously though, sounds like the dealer is looking up the N/A car piece and not a turbo. As mentioned above these things seem to go for about 400 bucks.

Maybe, I have a metal brake in my garage.

Give nineapart a call. They are in Toronto, Canada but they normally have loads of parted cars.

400 bones is allot of scratch for a piece of tin but, I think it's a bargain when compared to having one fabricated. It's a pretty complex piece. Lots of curves and weird angles.
Not something you can whip out in your garage with some tin snips and a brake.
