tial w/g plumbing w/manual controller
Need some help plumbing the Turbosmart manual controller and Tial F46 w/g. The 2 drawings seem to conflict.
For the air supply/pressure port source I tapped into the pipe between the cold i/c side and the throttle body, not the manifold. The Tial instructions show the 2 Tial ports T'd together. The Turbosmart drawing shows the line going to the lower w/g inlet, and the top inlet venting to atmosphere. Which one do I go with? thanks. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436103557.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436103586.jpg |
Looks like they both do the same to me, the top picture, is a bit misleading though. If you note, there is a VENT in between the top port of the WG and the boost controller.
Both diagrams bleed off pressure from the bottom port of the waste gate, delaying opening aka adding boost. |
This is how I am running my EBCS.
When the soleniod activates the WG, air is directed to the bottom port only, and top is vented to atmosphere. When solenoid is not activated, the top and bottom port see the same pressure and it is held CLOSED by equal pressure on both sides. This adds response time in tuning because both top and bottom ports see higher pressures, so when the solenoid operates, the diaphragm sees the pressure drop on one side and already has the pressure to activate it on the opposite side. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436105209.jpg As you can see, we can manipulate the boost curve up or down to get through some tuning issues. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1436105539.jpg We were getting a spike in boost and a little detonation around 4k RPM, so we dialed a little boost out in that area. The torque levels out and not pinging. I can see the dip in boost too. |
