Turbokraft 3.6 EFI turbo or Patrick motorsport 3.8 NA
I am taking delivery of my brothers 1992 965 with 49k miles in a couple of weeks, and so happens that my brother lives in Mesa AZ, near TurboKraft and Patrick Motorsports, As many of you know by now, the 965 has NA 3.6 with NA G50, .
I'm talking to Chris from TurboKraft and Eric from Patrick Motorsports, I gave them both a budget to work with, Turbo or 3.8RSR, 3.6 Turbo Clone Turbokraft-Chris's goal is build me a 3.6 turbo out of a NA 3.6, our goal is a mild 375hp to 425hp. single turbo stand alone engine management system, using 7.5 to 1, 3.6 turbo pistons and cylinders, larger injectors, ARP bolts and a black large IC, and a LSD install with a taller 965 5th gear and a lighten flywheel and stock 965 sport clutch . Knowing Chris , he will build something awesome ![]() With turbo build I would just add PSS9's and RH3.6 wheels and be done. 3.8 Carrera RSR Patrick Motorsports-Eric's goal is to build me 3.8 RS style engine about 300hp,LSD install and a lighten flywheel and sport clutch. I would also do PSS9 plus 993 alum carriers kit and rear NB trailing arms, and some brake mods and sway bars and custom built RSR style deep wheels by Jim, Speedlines..and a 3.8 tail and RS door panels and roll bar....... slippery slop..... I'm now waiting quotes from both parties, but I'm leaning towards Chris, He a super cool guy who has helped me and alot of other people on this forum. My car now ![]() Fist option - and what I want ![]() ![]() Second option-Carrera 3.8 RSR ![]()

I would choose Chris and Turbokraft; he is genuine, talented, and sincere with a proven concept. His transparent approach to his customers builds confidence.
I believe the fun factor in the turbo engine will be higher as well.

Do some research on Patrick and I think you'll come to the conclusion to use TK.

I decided that Chris is the person that will build me a Turbo engine, It's still undecided if it will a 3.3 965 engine if i can find one, or that he will build my 3.6 into a turbo, but it's looking like it will be a 3.6 turbo EFI.

You will not be disappointed, either way.

Isn't what we tend to call a 965 powered by a 3.6 anyways?

You made the right decision in my opinion. Turbo. Always.
965 was actually a stillborn project - but some parts / P/Ns survived and made their way onto 1991-1994 964 Turbos - so some people refer to the 964 Turbo as a 965. I'm not touching the debate as to whether it's correct :-) 91/92 were 3.3 and 93/94 were 3.6.

Looking at the Porsche info, 964 Turbo would be correct, but for the 965 part numbers , the 965 was a stillborn project ,

As much as i would love highly modified 3.6 , i'm think i'm gonna pass and find a stock 3.3 engine, I believe there lees than 300 examples made in 1992, for value and barging rights, saying that i own a 964 Turbo is kinda awesome....

I'd do option 1. Single turbo 3.6 all the way. But do the extra suspension work when you add the turbo to that 3.6. Use rubber that'll get sticky in that nice dry heat in AZ. Build yourself a car that you can hammer as you build boost and you're exiting a turn, and it sticks! Big boost and big brakes all the way. Screw it bro! Leave the 3.6 as it is, swap out the cams for something better for boost , add the headers/turbo with an intercooler and some fuel and have at it! That engine will take .8 bar w/intercooler and fuel enrichment. Keep those EGTs right. Todays alcohol injections are cheap and so easy to use a cave man could do it. Turbo kraft can whip it up for you. Just one guys opinion.
