For those saying a stock 930 isn't fast.

This from 1988, The 930 is the FASTED CAR IN THE WORLD.

Barring the Countach but it's only just faster.

And when modified to add 75-100hp and beyond, with earlier onset boost, they become worlds faster (no comparison at all to one in stock trim).

For me the turbo lag is the car. Slow..sloow..slooower... then a Mike Tyson uppercut to the chin. Mans car.

Porsche knew how to build a turbo charged engine. You guys are dialing out all the character of these early Porsche turbo charged engines.

^^^

That's all fine and dandy with regard to personal preference, butt there is no disputing that the "wait, wait, wait - bam" power delivery approach is far slower in the world of non-make-believe.

I don't know if you've ever driven one that boosts way earlier, but the upper cut is still there - just happens sooner and with less abruptness.

Have you ever been in a early turbo that hit hard? Give me the lag all day long for that hard hit turbo. The linear turbos are boring to me. That's a personal preference I admit.

There is almighty modded 930 I would love to drive it has 1100 HP it's only 1.5 liters and revs 12,500 rpm.

Yes they shoehorned it in a 930!

In the F1 car

In a 930

One of the other big problems with the stock, 3LDZ turbocharger is that it runs out of steam soon after after it hits (aka - a very narrow, and limited power band that seriously shortdicks the engine).

When I was a kid (17) I worked for a Porsche dealer as a lot boy. Anyhow the first Porsche I ever rode in was a brand new RS America and yes I did get to sneak out a few 993 turbos... I'd say they are fastest cars I've ever drove those 993 turbos had incredible acceleration.

I got to wash a cobalt blue 964 turbo 3.6 S with real speedline wheels. I'll never forget the guy tipping me and telling me to pull it around front when I was done. When I pulled it around there was a Ferrari F40 sitting in front of the dealership. It was his.

Interesting 993 turbos are breakneck fast even by today's standards. I remember 1st 2nd and 3rd going by in what seemed like a few seconds.

Are those of you who are fans of stock turbo lag also guys who enjoy getting beat from a red light across the intersection by minivans?

These cars were the fastest cars in the world in their time. They have earned the right to retire. They are Icons now. Let the young guns fight for that fastest car of the month. The 930 did that better than any car in the world. For 14 years.

They have earned their place in sports car history. And it's high up.
