Porsche Crest 930 headlamps/small lights

How do you hook up the small lights within the headlamps? I have not been able to find an article on this, if anyone has done this can you assist.

Thanks

City lights I have heard them called. I don't know if it's right but mine are connected to the parking lights.

Mine are not connected and I guess if I trace the parking lights wires I should be able to connect them. Not sure why they were not connected on my car.

I think those only came on some euro (ROW) models. Do you have a USA car where the PO installed euro lights?

My car is a 85/ 930 turbo( euro model) and under the bulb is a smaller bulb that is not connected. I was hoping that someone may have hook up their lights and would be able to help me connect the correct wires.

Many threads on this topic, usually from folks upgrading to Euro H4's. The small brass bulb holders are are not available separately - but are exactly the same as the bulb holders in the US running lights.

When your car was imported & federalised (the factory stopped importing the 930 to the US, and did not start again until 1986), the Euro city/parking lights were disconnected to comply with US lighting regulations, most likely in favor of the US running lights they fitted in the bumper to comply with federal requirements.

Both the Euro and US wiring harnesses have a female spade end that comes out in the headlight bucket for the Euro or US running lights (in the case of the US running lights, a wire leads off to the lights in the bumper).

If you want the Euro lights only, disconnect the US lights and plug in the city lights instead.

If you want both the US and Euro running lights together, make up a small Y harness with two female spade connectors (one for the Euro city lights, one for the lead to the US running lights) and a male spade (to plug into the harness in the headlight bucket and pick up power for both). Heat-shrink and plug boots are a really good idea, to prevent this shorting out on anything.

Correcting my own answer with new (to me) information 6 years later, heh.

For the Bosch city light bulb holder, you could wander into a Ducati dealer and ask them for a couple of 521.4.005.1A "lamp holder" parts. The part used on Monsters is identical except for an extra spade for ground (rubber mounted headlight). But they list for $15 a pop.

Mid-70's and up airhead BMWs used the same Bosch headlight, part # for their city light bulb holder seems to be 01-111957397.

And that's probably the actual Bosch part # - because Google says that's also the part # for a VW Bug, Super Beetle, Ghia, Bus, Thing etc "dash bulb holder", and the photo looks identical to the Euro city light/US front marker bulb holder, single spade and all; $2.50 each.
