DIY tool for locking input / pinion for lash (G50 6 spd)?
 
Hey Guys -- Anyone figured out a diy tool for the below tool for holding input shaft to pinion to do diff lash? ...I figured out something that works "okay", but was look'n to see what others have figured out.

I also have the factory tool, you could buy a couple cheap HF sockets cut the ends off, weld on a bit of tube, spring (flat steel will do), couple of holes, some threaded rod and bob's ur uncle. I'd use square tube.

All my extra long transmission sockets are cut off, then a round tube and the cut off drive is welded back on.

Thanks Guys.... Just head a friend tell me to take harbor ft large bearing seperator and cut a few V's in it to fit and nuts. He had factory tool and actually thought this worked a little better. I'll post some pics after I take the one next to my press can cut it up.

Here's a pic of the tool using a bearing separator. 30 minutes and I had it (less welding on the wing nuts). Probably need to weld a little bar across top of wind nuts to give a little more leverage. Worked well as is though, just got a little hard on hands after a while. ...that pinion is well locked.
