Mag case intermediate bearings questions
 

I am working through shopping list of parts for rebuild of early mag case (914-6 specifically). Seems like I have read that early cases did not have layshaft ( intermediate shaft) bearings but rather shaft was just directly in the mag case.
Am I misunderstanding that?If I not, when was it changed to have bearings.
Fortunately I am not the actual builder but trying to understand what I have.

That ended with the sand cast cases in 68’
Install fresh bearings because the top of the bearing will show brass from tensioners pulling up.

The first mag cases ('68-'69) didn't have the intermediate shaft bearings yet either. A 914/6 should be a '70 MY at least, so I'd think it should have the IS bearings.
