How to remove valve springs?
I bought this: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/ShopCart/TOOL/POR_TOOL_CAT583_pg6.htm
When I put it on, it doesn't seem like it is able to compress the spring enough to get the keeper off. I don't really trust it so far in being able to keep the spring from flying off and injuring/blinding me....SOO.... WHAT AM I MISSING?! Has anyone tried this particular one? Should I just go get a different type of compressor? I need one that is relatively inexpensive, say sub $40. Thanks |

I'ver never played with that particular tool so I can't comment on it's functionality, but the tool I used is a plain ole spring compressor that looks like a big C clamp, worked just fine and I think I paid around $16 for it not counting shipping.

I'll second the cheap big C clamp type from an auto parts store.
