911 main bearings
I have a '78 3.0 case that needs align-bored. The crank is stnd., however the case side will most likely be .25mm oversize after the bore. Where can I get bearings, and at what cost?
|
Dealer and they are not cheap.
Wholesale is about $475.00 Good luck |
What's cost to resize the case back to standard?

About $450 plus std bearings. $225 ?

Sounds to me that he'd be save money by having the case resized instead of line bored.

Thanks to all that have replied so far. I since learned as Henry Schmidt suggested, that the dealer can order the bearings. Get ready for this!, $1,239.00. There's a chance however, that I can get the machine shop to pay for them; as there is evidence of the case been mis-matched.
As far as shaving the case halves; I'd be nervous about all the other ramifications like intermediate shaft bosses, piston clearance, and I'm not sure what else. |

We do and I'm certain the Competition Engineering and Ollies do to. If you have a favorate machine shop that specializes in Porsche machine work, just ask. |
Did they have #8 or nose bearing in the csae when they torqued it together to check it ?
|
Thanks for your advice Henry; the case is been hand delivered to Ollie's on thurs.
