My 1st Engine Drop
Pelicans....and Grady,
Well, today was the first time I ever saw a 911 engine removed from the car. My friend Michael was planning to rebuild the transmission (915) from the 1973 RS he sold to an American two months ago – gave me a call to watch…and help. So my first engine drop was a 1973, 911RS, engine # 6630142, with original MFI. It was so clean, we hardly got dirty. Took us 90 mins to disconnect everything and with his car lift and floor jack, only 10 mins to have it out and pushed away from the car. I couldn’t believe how easy it really was. I am no longer afraid to do this job when the time comes for my rebuild. Michael was telling me that he’d help me find a MFI system for my motor. Gents....Any tips on who I can call and discuss rebuilding the pump and if I must buy a T/E system…what else must I do to change to “S” modifications? I still owe you pictures of my car, I have some - but they are too large to post on the site (2-3 MB). Grady, I hope I didn’t fill your personal email last week when I sent you a few photos? Post # 100...wow! Vr, Bavaria |
