oil pressure relief pistons

I'm having difficulty getting the oil pressure piston removed from my 2.7 engine. Any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

I sometimes will use a tap to reach down in the oil pressure relief hole and break the piston loose if it is frozen up. You will usually ruin the piston if you use this method. You have be very careful you do not scar the passage hole with the tap when doing this. Make sure you have lubricant in the hole after you get the tap seated in the piston, twisting the tap to break the piston loose, then try to work the piston and tap out of the hole by twisting in a tightening direction and pulling on it. Good luck.

BTDT....a hardwood dowel or square that fits into the passage, carved down to a taper to slightly larger than the ID of the piston. Tap gentley into the piston. Withdraw....mine came out.
