1977 911 s
Last year we saw an ad for a 911s 2.7. The car sat for 3 years as the owner try to re-build the engine. $ 5,000
Here's the car when found. ![]() ![]() The interior was in FANTASTIC shape. ![]() And the engine...well needed some (a lot) of work. ![]() ![]() |

It took four months, we bought new pistons, heads, headers, complete seal kit, guides and chains. Total parts cost. $ 3,023.

Great work, podio, and welcome to the forums!
Nice to see another mid-year car saved! I'm loving the orange colour. How did the rebuild work go? Had you worked on 911s previously? Also, you should post the pics in the tech forum and introduce yourself formally, there are many more readers in there compared with the engine rebuilding forum. Oh, the personalised plates are quite funny as well ![]()

I'm with Peter, that looks great!
Did you make any "while you were in there" changes to the engine, or was it just a stock rebuild? I've been seeing a lot of mid year cars for under $5k these days, and I have to say I've been thinking about doing something like this, just for fun... (what's wrong with me??? ![]()

Welcome. I also love the mid year cars, looking to buy one now. Those cars look awesome when lowered. Get the thermals off and an early exhaust installed.

Diego
This is the day I went for he car.
![]() f3nr15. How did the rebuild work go? Had you worked on 911s previously? The rebuild took 3 mounts, mostly waiting for parts. The only change was the addition of the heathers. No, I had not worked on Porches before, worked very slow with the original technical manual. I'm a mechanical engineer, although not a mechanic!!! |

Car today
The paint was faded after 3 years in the California sun. It was polished and waxed. A lot of work, but worth it.

My Dad had a 1971 911S that was in pristine condition. He only had the good mods like 11 blade fan, heat exchangers, pop off valve. Everything else was factory spec.
He autocrossed the car alot and had a blast. ![]() Then he sold it to build this hotrod work-in-progress car: ![]() This was already a steel IROC "update" on an original 1971 911S so we did not feel bad using the 2,7 MFI RS spec engine and making a lean and nimble canyon carver.
