964 Valve Cover Sealant?
I'm getting ready to do a valve adjustment on my 964. What's the best sealant to use on the inside of the valve covers for hopefully a leak free seal? Curil T?
Thanks in advance, Dan |

Thanks Coxy. How hard is it to clean up afterwards when you need to put on another set of gaskets?

Why not use the silicone gaskets that our host sells? You can re-use them and the forum seems happy with them.

964 valve covers use an o-ring style seal, so no sealant is necessary. If they leak there is something wrong.
BTW: If you have Curil T there is no need to buy Hylomar. The products are almost identical.

Mark, pretty sure during my search on Pelican that they don't make the silicon gaskets for the 964?
Henry, I didn't realize the the gaskets were O ring type. I haven't taken it apart yet. I was looking for some kind of sealant to hold the gaskets in their place while I put the valve covers on. Apparently its not needed. Any kind of tricks to tightening the valve covers down? ![]() Thanks, Dan Last edited by pantera; 01-23-2009 at 10:38 AM.. |
