Not to mention the Burns collectors which are a thing of beauty inside. You should show a picture of the collection point in the collector.

I"m pretty sure 89db is for the single stage Burns muffler. Burns just came out with a two stage muffler. That is what is in the pic. It looks to have a larger diameter can than the single stage(original) mufflers.

I think they leave a section of the can without packing for the two stage but not sure.

OK,

So what db can one expect going with the megaphone style like in the original race pic shown? Has it been tested yet?

Cheers

We've measured 97db from the megaphones on a clear sunny day at 100 ft.

Like Doug said, 89db is with the single stage Burns mufflers. They are actually the same size as the two stage but just have inner perforated steel tubes with packing in the outer portion. The two stage units have deflectors in the second stage; quieter, but a little less power.

Regards,
Jim

What part number or dimensions are the single stage ones? Any idea on system weight with the race version mufflers?

Cheers

Complete system weight of race muffler system is 32 lbs including headers, collectors, two into one pipes, mufflers, mounting bracket & all hardware.

The open megaphone race system (complete) weighs 25 lbs.

The mufflers are custom made for us by Burns and are 9" canisters, 12" total length.

Jim

Your site says a "race/street" system will be available. Do you know when? Also how is the low end of the power curve below 3,500?

DG624, The street muffler system is being made on a per order basis. Currently, we have the race system in stock, ready to ship. The race system is complete with megaphones & all mounting hardware included. Regarding low end torque, we found an increase across the entire power band compared to competing header systems. Why don't you call us at 817-239-7969 to discuss your needs.

Thanks!

Jim

I have an E with with a fresh E liter engine. Euro spec. It has the Buckley exhaust on it. How much power "should" it be making to the wheels?

Hi,all I can say is Wow.This is an exact copy of what I first built in 1983 for my customers. The 2 mufflers into one collector with the Burns center insert I first built in 1991 for a 2.8 short stroke on a 76 Turbo case with 3.6 heads.66 x 95mm.Made 374 H.P.at 9300 & 248 ft.lbs.of torque.Motor had 45mm slides and Motec.I used a mathematical formula where the step to the larger pipe is determined by the CC size of the engine.I will send a photo to JB of my exhaust and maybe he will post it here.I only ever supplied these to customers and never offered them for sale as I wanted to keep an advantage over the competition.Trust me Jb has a great product here.I am retired and had thought giving the info to someone to build these. No need to now.Fred Apgar Apcar Inc.

Fred - what sort of cam did you use to let the motor make peak HP at 9,300 RPM? That probably means shifting happened in the 9,500-10,000 RPM range? 25 hour motors? Titanium rods? Amazing numbers.

Does anyone know if these headers are still available? The Buckley website is not loading. I need some headers for my 3.4 track engine.
