Removing Key from Camshaft end

At the risk of being ridiculed, who has a special technique to remove the key on the end of the camshafts that keep the retainers in place?

Thanks, Craig

I just use a straight blade screwdriver and small hammer to lift the key unil I get the side cutters to grab it.

Similar to Bruce.

I use a hammer and my smallest punch to push the key back in the slot until the far end sticks up enough that I can grab it with my vice grip pliers. I then pry it out with my vice grips.

I always stuff a rag in the bottom of the chain box to keep it from falling into the case if it drops.

Thanks for the ideas. I was hesitant to break out the hammer but it does sound like the best solution.

I destroyed my woodruff keys upon removal. They were really in there.
Luckily our host has replacements.:)
