Rod balancing - where to remove material
I'm rebuilding a 2.7, and currently I'm balancing the rods.
What remains now is to remove a little material in the big ends of some of the rods. But where do I remove it to best preserve strength? Its gonna be a standard 165hp engine, so nothing special... We're talking up to 3,5 grams. In the piston end, I've removed material from inside the wrist pins. |

Removing material from the pin works well for balancing the pistons but if in the future you replace the piston, you will have to remember that the new wrist pin must be balance to the rod. If the next mechanic doesn't know you could drive him crazy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1341529323.jpg |
Hm didnt think about the next mechanic... too late now I guess.
Thanks a lot Henry! |
