paint heat
 
im painting my car and would like to colour match the valve covers. will the base clear im painting my car with work or will it bubble and peel from the heat?:confused:

If you're going for the look then give it a shot... worst case is the paint stains/bubbles with heat and you get to do the job a second time. Not a lot of risk. I've seen a few engines all dolled up with blue paint that has turned brownish with heat. If you're interested in shedding that heat then have them blasted so they look like new and run them as bare or coat with a flat carbon black such as Rustoleum Chalk Board. Most engine paints are insulators rather than dispersants so beware on an air-cooled engine of such "engine" paints.
