flywheel does not fit

Hi guy's,

My mechanic is struggling finding the right flywheel for my 930 3.3 inter cooler 1977.
So one of the first 3.3 ever made (Build nr 107)
Cars Vin number 9308700107
Engine number 6780097
Tranny 930-34-7780?88

Rebuild transmission, new flywheel and new clutch kit
So all new but after putting it together we notice that somethings wrong.
Looking at another 930 we found out that there is a gab of appro 3 mm
On my 930 there is no gab? we ordered a flywheel on the cars Vin number.
Can this be for a later model or do I have a more special setup because it's a 3.3 from 1977...
I'll hope someone can help finding out what the right flywheel number would be?
Here is a picture of the gab, or better ''no gab''

BTW I'm not shore if I have matching numbers? How can I check this?

I have started already a treat in the 930 section

That flywheel looks different than the one on my 79 930 engine.

Mine used a different pilot bearing that bolts to the flywheel with three bolts.

Yours looks like the correct flywheel for a 77. But I am not 100% sure.

What exactly is the problem besides the gap?

The flywheel is touching the engine case. what do you mean by ''Yours looks like the correct flywheel for a 77'' ? Keep in mind that it's a 3.3 and not a 3.0
Do you have any pictures of yours? that would be very welcome! so even the clutch kit bolts on just fine...

here is a pic of a NOS 3.3 Turbo flywheel. Yours looks like an early ('78/'79) SC flywheel.

I'm guessing your engine is not original.

The one Tom posted is that same as used on my engine (79 930 3.3) Here is the part number for the pilot bearing.

930-102-042-00-M157

I would unbolt your flywheel and see if you have the holes drilled in the crank for the above pilot bearing.

78/79 used the pressed in pilot bearing. The answer is in the crank behind the flywheel. The 80 and later used the 3 6mm allen head bolts to hold the pilot bearing.
Someone swapped out the crank would be most likely answer if you have the 3 hole for the pilot bearing.
OR, your flywheel isnt a turbo and the pressure plate is sitting on the raise at the edge of the flywheel. The SC flywheel has a thicker edge keeping the turbo pressure plate from setting flush.

Ok guy's, I will (when I'm back from work) post a picture from the crank. still i think my car was fully original. that old flywheel was cracked and did not look like it was only 15 years old. The cars history stayed in Holland (Netherlands) The last two owners Where older people. Still I think it's original but maybe different...

Thanks for your input fellow pelicans

I think you might be right ...

If you need a replacement flywheel. I can provide one for you.

A couple days later, what has been resolved?

Not to hijack the thread, but assuming we take turbo vs. non-turbo out of the equation, should the different years SC flywheels be interchangeable assuming you can just unbolt the newer style pilot bearing (well, I guess that would make the old style forward compatible, but you couldn't go the reverse)?
